Creating a dump device
Use the parted command to allocate a dump device area.
The example in this section creates the dump device /dev/sdb1.
# parted /dev/sdb
(parted) mkpart primary 0 1000
(parted) q
To allocate a disk partition for a dump device when installing the Linux OS, create the
disk partition with a file system specified. After the system starts, unmount the
created partition and delete information about the created partition from /etc/fstab.
