Appendix A: Maintenance
Display patterns test
This test lets you verify that each pixel and indicator in the vacuum fluorescent display is working
properly.
Perform the following steps to run the display test:
1. If the Model 2651A is in remote mode, press the EXIT (LOCAL) key once to place the instrument
in local mode.
2. Press the MENU key.
3. Navigate through the menus by turning the navigation wheel
key to select the items as follows: DISPLAY > TEST > DISPLAY-TESTS.

5. To start the display test, press the ENTER key. There are three parts to the display test. Each
time the ENTER key or the navigation wheel
selected. The three parts of the test sequence are as follows:
•
Checkerboard pattern and the indicators that are on during normal operation
•
Checkerboard pattern (alternate pixels on) and all the numeric indicators (which are not used) are
illuminated
•
Each digit (and adjacent indicators) is sequenced; all of the pixels of the selected digit are on
6. When finished, abort the display test by pressing the EXIT (LOCAL) key. The instrument returns
to the FRONT PANEL TESTS menu. Continue pressing the EXIT (LOCAL) key to back out of the
menu structure.
Upgrading the firmware
You can use a USB flash drive to upgrade the firmware.
Disconnect the input and output terminals before you upgrade.
Complete the following steps to upgrade the firmware.
1. From your PC, go to the
download the latest version of firmware from the website.
2. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on your PC.
3. Copy the firmware file to the USB flash drive.
4. If the Model 2651A is in remote mode, press the EXIT (LOCAL) key once to place the instrument
in local mode.
