Wipers/Washers
W i p e r M o t o r T e s t
1. Open the h o o d , and remove the w i p e r arms.
NOTE: Carefuly remove the w i p e r arms, so that
they do not touch the h o o d .
2. Remove the hood seal and c o w l cover.
3. Disconnect the connector f r o m the w i p e r motor.
4. Test the motor by connecting battery power to the
No. 2 terminal and g r o u n d the No. 3 terminal of the
w i p e r m o t o r 5P connector. The m o t o r should run at
l o w speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run
s m o o t h l y , replace the motor.
5. Test the m o t o r by connecting battery power to the
No. 2 terminal and g r o u n d the No. 5 terminal of the
w i p e r m o t o r 5P connector. The m o t o r should run at
high speed. If the m o t o r does not run or fails to run
s m o o t h l y , replace the motor.
6. Connect an analog voltmeter between the No. 4 ( + )
and No. 1 (—) terminals, and run the m o t o r at l o w
or high speed. The voltmeter should indicate 12 V
and 4 V or less alternately. If it does not, replace the
w i p e r motor.
W a s h e r M o t o r T e s t
1. Remove the right inner fender (see page 20-121).
2. Disconnect the 2P connector f r o m the washer
motor.
3. Test the m o t o r by connecting battery power to the
No. 1 terminal and ground the No. 2 terminal of the
washer motor. The m o t o r should run.
• If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly,
replace it.
• If the motor runs s m o o t h l y , but little or no
washer fluid is p u m p e d , check for a disconnected
or blocked washer hose, or a clogged washer
motor outlet.
