Y a w Rate
This diagnostic checks the y a w rate sensor in the
control unit. This device detects w h e n the vehicle turns,
and repositions the vehicle posion icon on the map
screen. For more detailed i n f o r m a t i o n , see the y a w rate
sensor theory of operation under " S y s t e m Description"
(see page 23-86).
• " S e n s o r " indicates the voltage output f r o m the y a w
rate sensor. It should indicate about 2.500 V w h e n
stopped.
• " O f f s e t " is the reference voltage or standard w i t h i n
the y a w rate sensor. It also should indicate about
2.500 V w h e n stopped.
• A " s e n s o r " output voltage HIGHER than the " O f f s e t "
voltage indicates that the vehicle is t u r n i n g t o the
right.
A " s e n s o r " output voltage LOWER than the " O f f s e t "
voltage indicates that the vehicle is t u r n i n g t o the left.
• The y a w rate offset, and sensor should both indicate
about 2.500 V w h e n stopped. If either reads zero, or
5.000 V replace the navigation unit.
The y a w rate offset and sensor should be w i t h i n + / —
0.01 V of each other w h e n stopped. The sensor value
should change relative t o the offset as the car is
turned w h i l e driving. If not, replace the navigation
unit.

• A u t o t u n i n g should always be o n . If it is off, turn it on.
• "Sensitivity s t u d y " represents the status of the
internal t u n i n g function. A t initialization, this value
starts at 6 and increases to # 10 as the internal
correction values become more accurate.
• The settings " C C W Cal Factor," " C W Cal Factor", and
" S e t " are for factory use only. THIS SHOULD NEVER
BE USED.
