9. Remove the PCV valve (see page 11-407).
10. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch connector
(A). Remove the bolt and the n u t then disconnect
the suction line (B) and discharge line (C) f r o m the
A/C compressor. Plug or cap the lines immediately
after disconnecting t h e m to avoid moisture and
dust c o n t a m i n a t i o n .

11. Remove the m o u n t i n g bolts and the A/C
compressor. Be careful not to damage the radiator
fins w h e n r e m o v i n g the A/C compressor.

12. Install the A/C compressor in the reverse order of
removal, and note these items:
• Inspect the A/C lines for any signs of
contamination.
• If you're installing a new A/C compressor, y o u
must calculate the a m o u n t of refrigerant oil to be
r e m o v e d f r o m it (see page 21-6). A new A/C
compressor comes w i t h a full charge of oil.
• Using the w r o n g refrigerant oil can be a safety
hazard (see page 21-6).
• Replace the O-rings w i t h new ones at each fitting,
and apply a thin coat of refrigerant oil before
installing t h e m . Be sure to use the correct O-rings
for HFC-134a (R-134a) to avoid leakage.
• To avoid c o n t a m i n a t i o n , do not return the oil to
the container once dispensed, and never m i x it
w i t h other refrigerant oils.
• Immediately after using the oil, dispose of any
remaining oil in the container, due to moisture
absorption short shelf life.
• Do not spill the refrigerant oil on the vehicle; it
may damage the paint; if the refrigerant oil
contacts the paint, w a s h it off immediately.
• Be careful not to damage the radiator fins w h e n
installing the A/C compressor, the alternator or
the A/C condenser fan s h r o u d .
• Charge the system (see page 21-105).
• Reset the power w i n d o w control unit (see page
22-200).
• Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and the
navigation system, then enter the customer's
audio presets.
• If the IMA battery level gauge (BAT) displays no
segments, start the engine, and hold it between
3,500 r p m and 4,000 rpm w i t h o u t load (in Park or
neutral) until the BAT displays at least three
segments.
