Navigation stays on w i t h ignition s w i t c h off
NOTE:
• A l w a y s check the connectors for poor connections or
loose terminals.
• Before t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g , get the navigation system
anti-theft code.
• After t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g , re-enter the anti-theft code,
and re-initialize the navigation system.
1. Remove the key f r o m the ignition switch.
Does the navigation screen stay on?
Y E S — G o t o step 2.
NO—The system is OK at this t i m e . •
2. The vehicle m a y have been used as a
d e m o n s t r a t i o n vehicle at an event like an auto
show. In these events, power is often j u m p e r e d to
the navigation system so that the ignition key is not
needed in the vehicle. At the end of the show, the
j u m p e r w i r e may not have been removed. Check
the navigation unit connector C (8P) for a " n o n -
f a c t o r y " j u m p e r w i r e in series w i t h the factory cable.
Is there a jumper wire?
YES—Remove the j u m p e r w i r e , and re-test. •
N O — G o t o step 3.
3. The display or audio unit may have a j u m p e r w i r e
installed behind the dash to a l l o w t h e navigation
system to run w i t h o u t the ignition key.
Does the radio function with the ignition switch
off?
Y E S — G o t o step 4.
N O — G o t o step 5.
4. Remove the display unit (see page 23-71) and check
to see if the audio 20P connector has a non-factory
j u m p e r w i r e in series w i t h the factory connector.
Is there a jumper wire?
YES—Remove the j u m p e r w i r e , and re-test. •
N O — G o t o step 5.
5. Check the interior lights w i t h the ignition switch off.
Can you turn on the interior lights with the ignition
switch off?
YES—Troubleshooting the ACC circuit. •
NO—Replace the navigation unit (see page 23-145).
