Airbag Handling and Storage
Do not disassemble an airbag. It has no serviceable
parts. Once an airbag has been deployed, it cannot be
repaired or reused.
For t e m p o r a r y storage of an airbag during service,
observe the f o l l o w i n g precautions.
• Store the removed airbag w i t h the pad surface up.
Never put anything on the airbag.
• To prevent damage to the airbag, keep it away f r o m
any oil, grease, detergent, or water.
• Store the removed airbag on a secure, flat surface
away f r o m any high heat source (exceeding 200 °F/
93 °C).
• Never perform electrical inspections to the airbags,
such as measuring resistance.
• Do not position yourself in front of the airbag during
removal, inspection, or replacement.
• For proper disposal of a d a m a g e d airbag, refer to
airbag disposal (see page 24-146).
