11. Check for continuity between navigation unit
connector B (14P) terminal No. 12 and the audio
unit connector A (20P) terminal No. 12.

Is there
continuity?
YES—Go to step 10.
NO—There is an open in the circuit between the
navigation unit and audio unit. Check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the audio and
navigation units. If a poor connection or loose
terminal is f o u n d , replace the affected shielded
harness. •
12. Substitute a known-good audio unit, and recheck.
Is the system
OK?
YES—Replace the original audio unit. •
NO—Replace the navigation unit (see page 23-145).
Voice control does not work/respond
NOTE:
• A l w a y s check the connectors for poor connections or
loose terminals.
• Before t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g , write d o w n the customer's
audio presets, and get the radio and navigation
system anti-theft codes.
• After t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g , enter the radio and navigation
system anti-theft codes, and the audio presets.
Before assuming that a voice complaint is hardware
related, ensure that the voice control system is being
operated correctly.
• Make sure you are on the correct screen w h e n t r y i n g
to issue a voice c o m m a n d . For instance, the
c o m m a n d " F i n d the nearest Italian Restaurant" only
w o r k s on a Map screen.
(See the Navigation System owner's manual for a
complete list of allowed voice c o m m a n d s for the
i n f o r m a t i o n being displayed.)
• Close the w i n d o w s and sunroof.
• Set the fan speed to low (1 or 2).
• Adjust the air f l o w f r o m the air conditioning vents so
that they do not blow against the m i c r o p h o n e on the
ceiling.
• Pause after pressing the TALK button, then give a
voice c o m m a n d clearly in a natural speaking voice. If
the system cannot recognize your c o m m a n d , speak
louder.
• if the microphone picks up voices other than yours,
the system may not interpret your voice c o m m a n d s
correctly.
• If you speak a c o m m a n d w i t h s o m e t h i n g in y o u r
m o u t h , or your voice is too husky, the system may
misunderstand your c o m m a n d .
