Brake system indicator does not go off, and
no DTCs are stored
1. T u r n the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Release the parking brake.
Does the brake system indicator go off after
several seconds?
Y E S — T h e system is OK at this t i m e . •
N O — G o t o step 3.
3. Check the brake fluid level (see page 19-9).
Is the level OK?
Y E S - G o t o step 4.
NO—Inspect the brake system for fluid leaks, if no
leaks are f o u n d , replace the w o r n out brake pads. •
4. Check the ABS indicator.
Does the ABS indicator stay on?
Y E S — R e a d the DTC (see page 19-35), and do the
applicable troubleshooting for the DTC. •
NO—Go to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
6. Check the parking brake switch (see page 19-7).
Is the parking brake switch OK?
Y E S — G o t o step 7.
NO—Replace the parking brake switch. •
7. Check the brake fluid level switch (see page 19-11).
Is the brake fluid level switch OK?
Y E S - G o t o step 8.
NO—Replace the brake f l u i d level s w i t c h . •
8. Remove the gauge control m o d u l e (see page
22-235).
9. Disconnect the gauge control m o d u l e connector B
(30P).
10. Check for continuity between the gauge control
m o d u l e connector B (30P) t e r m i n a l No. 4 and body
g r o u n d .
GAUGE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR B (30P)

Wire side of female terminals
Is there continuity?
Y E S — R e p a i r short to body g r o u n d in the w i r e
between the gauge control m o d u l e and the parking
brake s w i t c h . •
NO—Go to step 11.
11. Check for continuity between the gauge control
module connector B (30P) terminal No. 2 and body
g r o u n d .

Y E S — R e p a i r short to body g r o u n d in the w i r e
between the gauge control m o d u l e and the brake
fluid level s w i t c h . •
NO—Check for loose terminals in the gauge control
m o d u l e connectors. If connectors are g o o d , replace
the gauge control m o d u l e . •
