DTC 21-11: Short to Another Wire in Driver's
Seat Belt Tensioner
DTC 21-30: Decreased Resistance in Driver's
Seat Belt Tensioner
Special Tools Required
• SRS inflator simulator 07SAZ-TB4011A
• SRS simulator lead F 07XAZ-SZ30100
1. Erase the DTC m e m o r y (see page 24-25).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the
SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and
then goes off.
Does the SRS indicator
stay on, and is DTC
21-11
or 21-30
indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 3.
NO—Intermittent failure, system is OK at this t i m e .
Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures
(see page 24-26). If another DTC is indicated, go to
the DTC Troubleshooting Index.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the
battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.
4. Disconnect the driver's seat belt tensioner 4P
connector (A) f r o m the left floor w i r e harness.

5. Connect the SRS inflator simulator (2 0,
connectors) and simulator lead F to the left floor
w i r e harness.
6. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
7. Erase the DTC m e m o r y .
8. Read the DTC (see page 24-24).

indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 9.
NO—Short in the driver's seat belt tensioner;
replace the driver's seat belt (see page 24-4). •
9. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the
battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.
10. Disconnect the front passenger's seat belt
tensioner connector (see step 6 on page 24-23).
11. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) f r o m the
SRS unit (see step 7 on page 24-23).
12. Disconnect the simulator lead f r o m the left floor
w i r e harness.
13. Check resistance between the No. 1 and the No. 2
terminals of SRS unit connector B (28P). There
should be an open circuit or at least 1 M S .

?
YES—Faulty SRS unit or poor contact at SRS unit
connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the
connection; if the connection is OK, replace the
SRS unit (see page 24-153). •
NO—Short in the left floor w i r e harness; replace
the left floor w i r e harness. •
