Parameters
seconds: Interval, in seconds, at which an interface transmits hello packet. It ranges from 1 to 255.
Description
Use the ospf timer hello command to configure the interval for transmitting Hello messages on an
interface.
Use the undo ospf timer hello command to restore the interval to the default.
By default, the Hello interval is
10 seconds for an interface of p2p or broadcast
30 seconds for an interface of p2mp or nbma
Hello packets are periodically sent to find and maintain neighbors and used for DR/BDR election. The
hello seconds value must be identical on interfaces attached to the same network segment. Otherwise,
neighbor relationships cannot be established between routers.
