a. Windshield side and upper garnish moldings.
b. Rear view mirror support.
c. Sunshade supports.
d. Dome, side roof rail, or rear quarter cour-
tesy lamps.
e. Coat hooks.
f. Side roof rail moldings.
g. Back window garnish moldings.
h. Rear quarter trim, where necessary.
i. Loosen trim assembly below back window on
6039, 6257 and 6357 styles.
3. Carefully remove tacks or staples securing
headlining at windshield opening, along side roof
rails, at rear quarter windows and at back window
opening, shown at K, Fig. 16-17. On 6257 and 6357
styles, remove plastic retainer from side roof
rail pinchweld.
4. Carefully detach cemented edges of head-
lining.
5. Working from front to rear of body, disen-
gage headlining listing wires from side roof rails,
gathering or folding headlining with listing wires
on outside to keep headlining clean.
IMPORTANT: Note in which holes the ends of
listing wires are installed in side roof rails.
Listing wires should be placed in same holes
when replacing headlining.
6. At front roof bow, except 6039 style, bend
down metal tabs supporting listing wire and listing
wire pocket, F, Fig. 16-17. On 6039 style, bend
down metal tab supporting rear listing wire, O,
Fig. 16-17. On 57 styles, remove rear listing
wire and pocket from rear listing wire support.
7. Remove headlining assembly from body.
8. If replacing headlining, remove listing wires
from pockets of headlining.
IMPORTANT: Listing wires removed from
old headlining must be installed in correspond-
ing pockets of new headlining.
b. Installation
1. Apply approved trim cement to headlining
attaching surfaces at windshield, side roof rail,
and back window. On 6257 and 6357 styles, apply
cement to both sides of pinchweld along side roof
rails.
2. Lift entire headlining assembly into body;
then install rear listing wire into holes in side
roof rails. On 6039 style, bend up metal tab se-
curing rear listing wire, shown at O, Fig. 16-17.
On 57 styles, install rear listing wire and pocket
on rear listing wire support.
3. Center headlining so material hangs evenly
on both sides. At upper center of back window,
secure 1 inch to 2 inches of headlining material
to cemented surface of tacking strip.
4. Working forward, install listing wires into
holes in side roof rails. At front roof bow, bend up
metal tabs securing listing wire and listing wire
pocket, shown at F, Fig. 16-17. Each listing wire
should rest against roof deadener after it is in-
stalled. Listing wires may be adjusted by placing
in appropriate holes in side roof rails.
5. Stretch and secure headlining along wind-
shield
opening. Temporarily tack
headlining
across windshield opening, allowing for possible
repositioning, at B, Fig. 16-17.
6. Stretch and secure headlining at back window
and upper rear quarter area. Also, temporarily
tack headlining at these areas, M andL, Fig. 16-17.
7. On 6257 and 6357 styles, apply approved trim
cement to side edges of headlining material and at
rear quarter areas.
8. Remove all "fullness" or "draws" from
headlining material and secure headlining at side
roof rails. On 6257 and 6357 styles, secure head-
lining in rear quarter areas.
9. Recheck for any "fullness" or "draws" and
permamently tack headlining at windshield, back
window, and rear quarter areas.
10. Permanently tack headlining on side roof
rails, K, Fig. 16-17. On 6257 and 6357 styles, use
headlining inserting or suitable wide-bladed tool
to secure headlining around pinchweld flange. Re-
place plastic retainer along side roof rail pinch-
weld.
11. Trim excess material from edge of head-
lining around entire perimeter.
12. Replace all previously removed hardware
and trim assemblies.
18. Side Roof Rail Weatherstrip
The side roof rail weatherstrip assembly is a
one-piece type which is secured to the front body
hinge pillar with a snap fastener. The remainder
of the weatherstrip is secured to the side roof rail
by weatherstrip adhesive and a weatherstrip re-
tainer and reveal molding assembly.
