housing. Be careful not to break wires. On 75
and commercial chassis position wires carefully
in rubber grommet.
9. Push motor cover down until it butts against
housing.
NOTE: Make certain end play adjusting
screw is not in housing.
10. Install and tighten two through bolts.
11. Tap motor case lightly with a mallet to
align bearing.
12. Install end play adjusting screw and locknut,
tightening screw finger tight. Then back off screw
1/4 turn and tighten locknut securely.
78. Washer Unit Removal, Disassembly,
Assembly, and Installation
(All Series)
a. Removal
1. Remove wiper unit from car as outlined in
Note 75a on 60 and 62 series and Note 76a on 75
and Commercial series.
2. Remove four washer pump-to-wiper gear box
screws and separate pump from wiper unit.
b. Disassembly
1. Using snap ring Pliers, J-4880, remove snap
ring retaining pump rotor cam to shaft and re-
move cam.
2. Remove four screws retaining washer valves
to pump assembly and remove outlet valve, Fig.
12-75.
3. Remove three screws securing pump cover.
4. Remove spring clip securing relay to washer
housing and remove relay with terminal board.
5. Remove relay armature from relay by dis-
connecting spring, Fig. 12-75.
NOTE: Washer pump is not serviceable be-
yond rotor cam, cam retainer, outlet valve and
relay. Replace complete assembly if other de-
fects are found.
c. Assembly
1. Position relay armature on relay and secure
with spring, Fig. 12-75.
2. Install relay and terminal board assembly in
housing and secure with spring clip.
3. Pull ratchet arm back so arm will slide into
slot of armature, Fig. 12-75.

4. Secure pump cover with three screws.
5. Position outlet valve on washer housing and
secure with four screws.
6. Install rotor cam on shaft and secure with
snap ring.
d. Installation
1. Position pump so that slot in cam arm fits
over pin on wiper unit drive plate, Fig. 12-81.
2. Install four pump-to-wiper screws. On 75
and commercial chassis position ground strap
under one screw.
3. Install wiper unit as described in Note 75b
on 60 and 62 series and 76b on 75 and commercial
chassis series.

a. Body Wiring
1. Make sure body wiring is properly connected
to wiper unit and dash switch.
