of heated and unheated air. In the OFF position,
the air flow from the heater core is completely
blocked. As the lever is moved to the right, the
temperature valve opens, admitting heated air
into the ducting, and progressively decreases the
amount of unheated air. In the "Warmer" posi-
tion, the flow of unheated air is completely
blocked, directing all the air through the heater
core.
The vent levers regulate the fresh air intake
valves on the lower, inner cowl panel. Moving
the levers to the left progressively increases the
amount of fresh air entering the passenger com-
partment.
75 Series (Non-Air Conditioned)
The 75 series cars heating system uses a dash
heater unit, Fig. 13-5, that provides heated air to
the front passenger compartment and to the wind-
shield only.
The temperature of the air discharged into the
car is controlled by a water control valve inside
the heater casing, Fig. 13-5, that regulates the

flow of water to the heater core. Water enters
the core at the lower fitting and leaves at the upper
fitting.
The temperature lever on the 1963 heater-
ventilation control panel, Fig. 13-2, regulates the
water control valve. In the "Off" position, water
flow to the heater core is shut off completely.
As the lever is moved to the right, the amount of
water flowing to the heater core is increased.
The heater-defroster lever, fan switch, and vent
levers operate in the same manner as non-Air
Conditioned 60 and 62 series cars.
Two additional heater units, one below each rear
arm rest assembly, provide warm air for the
rear compartment. The rear heater units contain
individual cores and blowers. Inside air is drawn
through a section in the rear outlet grilles into
these units. This air passes through the blowers
and the heater cores, and into the rear compart-
ment through grille openings in the bottom of the
rear arm rests.
