2. Insert clock into bezel opening with the nu-
meral "2" pointing almost straight up, then r o -
tate clock clockwise to lock into position.
69. Headlight Switch
Removal and Installation
The procedure for removing and installing the
headlight switch is described in Section 15, Note 9.
70. Back-up Light Switch Service
The neutral safety switch, back-up light switch,
and parking brake vacuum release valve are com-
bined into one unit mounted on the steering column
under the instrument panel.
a. Removal
1. Remove mounting screw and remove switch
from steering column.
2. Mark top vacuum hose for identification and
remove hoses.
3. Disconnect wires from switch.
b. Installation
1. Connect switch wires and install vacuum
hoses on switch.
2. Install switch on steering column and secure
with mounting screw.
c. Adjustment
1. Loosen mounting screw on top of switch.
2. Place transmission shift lever in "neutral"
position.
3. Insert a .090 inch to .094 inch pin (or #90
drill) in adjusting hole in switch cover.
4. Rotate switch counterclockwise until slider
block inside switch bears against pin or drill.
5. Tighten adjusting screw, remove pin and test
for operation.
a. Engine should start in "park" and "neutral"
only.
b. Back-up lights should operate when trans-
mission shift lever is placed in " r e v e r s e " .
c. Parking brake should release in any drive
range with engine running.

WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM
73. Design Features
Three speed electric windshield wipers are
used on all 1963 Cadillac cars.
On 60 and 62 series cars, the unit is mounted at
the left side of the cowl. This unit drives a center
drive arm connected to two wiper transmission
link arms.
On 75 and commercial chassis series the unit
is connected directly to the two wiper trans-
mission link arms and is mounted in the center
of the cowl.
The wiper unit link arms drive two individual
wiper transmissions on all series. The unit con-
sists of a wiper unit, which contains a 12-volt d.c.
motor, a gear box section, a relay control, and a
windshield washer pump.

at three different speeds as desired. The washers
are activated bv a button integral with the switch.
