HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING
Fig. 13-7 Rear Seat Control Panel - 75 Series
60 and 62 Series (Air Conditioned)
The heater operation on Air Conditioned cars is
basically the same as on the non-Air Conditioned
cars.
The heating and Air Conditioning systems
are individually operated, although inter-related
through a common control panel and
ducting
system.
To operate the heating system, the selector
(upper) lever is moved to the "Heat" position,
Fig.
13-15. This activates the 20% - 100% vac-
uum diaphragm, causing the air inlet valve to
open, Fig. 13-8, admitting outside air. The elec-
trical circuit to the blower is completed, turning
the blower on. Outside air is drawn through the
cowl air intake grille into the blower inlet assem-
bly, Fig. 13-8. The air then flows through the
evaporator core and into the heater-Air Condi-
tioner assembly, Fig. 13-8, where the air is heat-
conditioned
and
delivered to t h e
passenger
compartment and windshield in the same manner
as described for non-Air Conditioned 60 and 62
series cars.
75 Series (Air Conditioned)
Moving the selector (upper) lever to the "Heat"
position activates the 20% and 100% vacuum dia-
phragms, causing the air
inlet valve to open
admitting outside air into the system. This move-
ment also completes the electrical circuit to the
blower, causing the blower to operate.
Outside air is drawn through the cowl air intake
grille into the blower assembly. The air is then
forced across the heater core and delivered to the
front passenger compartment and windshield.
Ventilation (Air Conditioned Cars)
For unheated outside air, the selector (upper)
lever is placed in the "Heat" position and the
temperature (lower) lever in the "Cooler" po-
sition. The selector lever turns the flower on and
actuates the 20% - 100% vacuum diaphragm,
causing the air inlet valve to open, admitting out-
side air into the system. The temperature lever
closes the temperature valve, allowing only the
unheated air to be delivered into the passenger
compartment through the heater outlets.
Heater Electrical Circuit
The heater electrical circuit is illustrated in
Fig.
13-9. The current flows from the battery
through the ignition switch, through a 25 ampere
