b. If headlights go to upper beam, trouble is in
foot switch or amplifier unit. Proceed to step 4.
4. Disconnect three-way amplifier plug from
foot switch. Disconnect three-way
instrument
panel wiring plug from power relay unit. Connect
instrument panel plug to foot switch.
Operate
foot switch.
a. If lights go to upper beam, trouble is in
amplifier unit.
b. If lights stay on low beam, trouble is in foot
switch or car wiring.
b. Headlights Stay on Upper Beam
1. Reaching t h r o u g h
glove box, disconnect
phototube plug from socket on amplifier unit and
remove amplifier from mountings. Ground white
wire in amplifier at socket connection.
a. If headlights switch to lower beam, trouble
is in phototube unit.
b. If headlights do not switch to lower beam,
trouble is in the amplifier unit, power relay unit,
or foot switch. Proceed to step 2.
2. Remove red wire from foot switch.
a. If headlights go to lower beam, trouble is in
foot switch.
b. If headlights do not go to lower bean, pro-
ceed to Step 3.
3. Disconnect two - way amplifier plug from
power relay unit.
a. If headlights stay on high beam, trouble is in
power relay unit.
b. If headlights switch to low beam, trouble is
in amplifier unit. Proceed to step 4.
4. Disconnect three-way amplifier plug from
foot switch. Disconnect three - way instrument
panel plug from power relay unit. Connect in-
strument panel harness to foot switch. Operate
foot switch.
a. If headlights switch to lower beam, trouble
is in amplifier unit.
b. If headlights stay on upper beam, trouble is
in car wiring.
c. No Overriding Beam
Disconnect red w i r e from foot switch and
ground wire. If overriding is obtained, trouble is
in foot switch. If not, check continuity of red wire
to amplifier. Otherwise, trouble is in amplifier.
