b. Disassembly of Drive End Frame
1. Holding rotor poles in a vise with soft jaws,
remove nut and washer that hold pulley and fan to
rotor shaft.
2. Remove pulley, fan and collar from shaft.
Separate drive end frame from rotor.
3. Remove large collar from rotor shaft.

c. Disassembly of Slip Ring End Frame
(Fig. 12-36)
1. Remove three nuts with lock washers retain-
ing diode and stator leads, disconnect leads, and
separate stator from slip ring end frame.
36. Inspection, Testing and Replacement
of Generator Components
a. Brushes and Brush Holder (Fig. 12-37)
1. Inspect brush springs for any evidence of
damage or corrosion.
2. Inspect brushes for signs of wear and brush
pigtail for signs of fraying.
3. Inspect brush holder for signs of cracks.
4. If necessary, replace brushes or brush holder
by removing two Phillips head retaining screws,
noting carefully the arrangement of parts, Fig.
12-37. Replace in same order.
