b. Dim Sensitivity
1. Rotate Intensity control on Tester completely
counterclockwise.
2. Turn selector on Dim-Hold switch to HOLD
position and then back to DIM position. Headlights
should be on upper beam.
3. Turn Tester Intensity c o n t r o l clockwise
slowly just to point where headlights switch to
lower beam. Meter pointer should now read in
black DIM sensitivity range on meter scale, Fig.
12-103. If not, proceed to HOLD sensitivity ad-
justment, Note 106b.

Turn Intensity control all the way clockwise.
2. Turn selector on Dim-Hold switch to DIM
position and back to HOLD position to obtain a
lower beam.
3. Slowly turn Intensity control counterclock-
wise just to the point where headlights switch to
upper beam. Meter pointer should now read in
black HOLD sensitivity range on meter scale,
Fig. 12-103. If not, proceed to HOLD sensitivity
adjustment, Note 106b.
106. Hold and Dim Sensitivity
Adjustments on Car
CAUTION: Hold sensitivity must be properly
adjusted before a d j u s t i n g DIM sensitivity.
Phototube unit must be covered with a black
cloth during adjustments.
a. Preparation for Test
Same as for DIM and HOLD test, Note 105a.
DIM and HOLD sensitivity controls are located on
the bottom side of the amplifier unit and are slot-
ted for screwdriver adjustment. The controls are
accessible for adjustment through the glove box.
b. Hold Sensitivity
1. Rotate amplifier HOLD control adjustment,
Fig. 12-99, completely clockwise.
2. Rotate Tester Intensity control completely
clockwise.
3. Turn selector Dim-Hold switch on Tester
momentarily to DIM position to switch lights to
lower beam, then switch to HOLD position.
NOTE: If lights do not switch to lower beam,
the amplifier DIM control must be turned com-
pletely clockwise and then readjusted after
HOLD adjustment is correct.
4. Turn Intensity control on Tester slowly
counterclockwise until meter pointer is on HOLD
sensitivity adjustment line, Fig. 12-103.
5. Turn amplifier HOLD control slowly coun-
terclockwise just to the point where headlights
switch to upper beam. Do not go beyond this
setting.
6. Recheck HOLD sensitivity as covered in
steps 1 through 3, Note 105c.
c. Dim Sensitivity
NOTE: DIM sensitivity should not be ad-
justed until HOLD sensitivity has been properly
adjusted.
1. Rotate amplifier DIM adjustment, Fig. 12-99,
completely counterclockwise.
2. Momentarily turn Dim-Hold switch on Tester
to HOLD then back to DIM position to obtain upper
beam, Fig. 12-103.
3. Adjust Tester Intensity control until meter
pointer is at DIM sensitivity adjustment line,
Fig. 12-103.
4. Slowly rotate amplifier DIM control clock-
wise just to point where headlights switch to lower
beam. Do not go beyond this setting.
5. Recheck DIM sensitivity as covered in steps
1 through 3, Note 105b. If sensitivity is not cor-
rect, repeat adjustment procedure.
