b. Installation
1. Install rear intermediate pipe on front in-
termediate pipe. Make certain there is a mini-
mum of 3/8 inch between rear intermediate pipe
and frame member, Fig. 10-5. Install clamp that
holds pipes together.
2. Install U-bolt that holds rear intermediate
pipe to support bracket at rear shock absorber
upper mount. Support bracket should be centered
in the bracket from side to side and positioned all
the way forward in rubber slot of support bracket,
Fig. 10-5.
3. Install resonator as described in Note 3.
NOTE: Make certain all components are
properly aligned and not contacting frame
members.
4. Lower car.
5. Front Intermediate Pipe
Removal and Installation
a. Removal
1. Raise car on hoist or jack stands.
2. Loosen two clamps securing muffler.
3. Drive muffler forward until it separates
from front intermediate pipe. Use floor jack to
support muffler.
4. Remove clamp securing front intermediate
pipe to rear intermediate pipe.
5, Separate and remove front intermediate pipe
from rear intermediate pipe.
b. Installation
1. Fit front intermediate pipe to rear inter-
mediate pipe. Fit front intermediate pipe to
muffler by driving muffler rearward.
2. Align front intermediate pipe so there is at
least 1/2 inch between pipe and No. 4 body
outrigger.
3. Position clamp so there is 1/8 inch between
front of saddle and forward end of rear inter-
mediate pipe, and 3/8 inch from dimple on front
intermediate to forward end of rear intermediate
pipe, Fig. 10-6. Blade must be horizontally
aligned and centered in rubber portion of support
bracket.
4. Hold support bracket blade in position and
tighten clamp securing front intermediate pipe
to rear intermediate pipe.
5. Tighten two clamps securing muffler.
NOTE: Make certain all components are
properly aligned and not contacting frame
members.
6. Remove floor jack.
7. Lower car.

1. Raise car on hoist or jack stands.
