14. Install a new rectangular gasket on suction
crossover cover, making certain that bottom of
cover fits in gasket recess all the way up to
lip, Fig. 13-63. Coat gasket with 525 refrigeration
oil.
15. Start one side of suction crossover and
gasket in dove-tail slot in cylinder halves. Center
cover and gasket with ends of cylinder faces.
Install cover using Suction Crossover Cover In-
staller, J-9433, by placing it between gasket and
dove-tail slot on opposite side, Fig. 13-64, and
pressing down on cover to snap it into place.
16. Remove installer tool with a pair of pliers.
Use pliers on end of tool and pull straight out to
avoid damage to tool, Fig. 13-65.
42. Compressor Internal Mechanism,
Installation
1. Place internal mechanism on Internal As-
sembly Support Block, J-9521, with rear end of
shaft in block hole.
2. Install new O-ring and bushing on front end
of discharge crossover tube, Fig. 13-66. The
O-ring and bushing are service parts only; for
internal mechanisms that have been disassembled
in the field.
3. Install new dowel pins in front cylinder half,
if previously removed.
4. Install front suction reed plate on front cyl-
inder half. Align with dowel pins, suction ports,
oil return slot, and discharge crossover tube,
Fig. 13-67.

5. Install front discharge valve plate assembly,
aligning holes with dowel pins and proper openings
in front suction reed plate, Fig. 13-68.
NOTE: Front discharge plate has a large
diameter hole in the center, Fig. 13-69.
6. Coat teflon gasket surfaces on webs of com-
pressor front head casting with 525 refrigeration
oil.
7. Determine exact position of front head cast-
ing in relation to dowel pins on internal mecha-
nism. Mark position of dowel pins on sides of
front head assembly and on sides of internal
mechanism with a grease pencil. Carefully lower
front head casting into position, Fig. 13-70,
making certain that teflon sealing area around
center bore of head assembly does not contact
shaft as head assembly is lowered. Do not rotate
head assembly to line up with dowel pins, as teflon
sealing areas would contact reed retainers.
8. Generously lubricate angled groove at lower
edge of front head casting with 525 refrigeration
oil and install new O-ring in groove, Fig. 13-71.
9. Coat inside machined surfaces of compres-
sor shell with 525 refrigeration oil and position
shell on internal mechanism, resting on O-ring
seal.
