5.12.5 IDLE GEAR OIL CLEARANCE
MEASUREMENT
1. Measure the idle gear shaft O.D. with an outside
micrometer.
2. Measure the idle gear bushings I.D. with an inside
micrometer.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace
the bushing.

MEASUREMENT
1. Measure the O.D. of the camshaft journal with an
outside micrometer.
2. Measure the I.D. of the camshaft bore on the crankcase
with an inside micrometer.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace
the shaft.
