5.8 ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY CHECK

1. Measure the rocker arm shaft O.D. with an outside
micrometer.
2. Measure the rocker arm I.D. with an inside microm-
eter.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace
the rocker arm.
4. If the clearance still exceeds the allowable limit af-
ter replacing the rocker arm, replace the rocker arm
shaft.

5.9 CYLINDER HEAD CHECK

5.9.1 CYLINDER HEAD SURFACE FLATNESS
1. Thoroughly clean the cylinder head surface.
2. Place a straight edge on the cylinder head and
measure the clearance with a feeler gage as shown
in the fi gure.
3. If the measured value exceeds the allowable limit,
replace the cylinder head.
IMPORTANT
Do not place the straight edge on the combustion
chamber.
Allowable limit ................ 0.05 mm (0.0019 in.)
