4. When installing the piston into the cylinder block,
begin pushing the connecting rod from the head
side into the block, and completely push the piston
into the cylinder block after compressing the piston
ring using a compressor. Refer to the fi gure for as-
sembled view.

5. Apply oil onto the connecting rod cover bolts, and
tighten them to the specifi ed torque using a torque
wrench.
Connecting rod bolt
Specifi ed torque .............26.0 ~ 30.0 Nm
IMPORTANT
• Mark the cylinder number on the piston and
connecting rod to prevent them from interchanging.
• Be careful not to damage the chrome-plate area
on the piston ring when pressing the piston into
the cylinder block.
• It is very important that the number carved on the
big end of the connecting rod faces the injection
pump during installation.
• Make sure that the mark caved on the big end of
the connecting rod and the arrow mark on the
piston face the same direction during installation.
