4. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector.
• If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
• If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5.

5. Reconnect the rear window wiper intermittent control unit and make these input tests.
• If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
• If all the input tests prove OK, the control unit must be faulty, replace it.

Test Condition Test: Desired result
Ignition switch Attach to ground:
ON (II) Rear window wiper motor
should run.
Ignition switch Check for continuity to ground:
ON (II) and jump The meter should alternate
terminal No. 1 to from continuity to ground to
ground open.

Ignition switch Check for voltage to ground:
ON (II) There should be battery voltage.
Under all Check for continuity to ground:
conditions There should be continuity.
Ignition switch Check for voltage to ground:
ON (II) and rear There should be battery voltage.
