configure tacacs shared-secret
configure tacacs [primary | secondary] shared-secret {encrypted} <string>
Description
Configures the shared secret string used to communicate with the TACACS+ authentication server.
Syntax Description
primary
Configures the authentication string for the primary TACACS+ server.
secondary
Configures the authentication string for the secondary TACACS+ server.
encrypted
Indicates that the secret should be encrypted.
string
Specifies the string to be used for authentication.
Default
N/A
Usage Guidelines
The secret must be the same between the client switch and the TACACS+ server.
The TACACS+ server must first be configured for use with the switch as a RADIUS client.
If the server address is not specified, shared secret is configured for all primary and secondary
TACACS+ authentication servers.
You must first configure the TACACS+ server information before configuring the shared secret for a
specific server.
Example
The following command configures the shared secret as "purplegreen" on the primary TACACS+
server:
configure tacacs-accounting primary shared-secret purplegreen

This command was first available in ExtremeWare 6.1.
This command was added to the Summit "e" series of switches in ExtremeWare 7.1e.
