Configuring Bridge Filter Definitions

Filtering is the method by which the network manager controls usage of an inter-
network. A filter permits or denies (depending on how it is configured) some or all of
a specific type of bridged traffic across an interface. This can be helpful in such ways
as limiting unwanted or inappropraite traffic onto LANs or WANs, or preventing
access to certain devices for security purposes.
The process of configuring and using Bridge filters is as follows. Both procedures are
described later in this chapter.
1. Create a Bridge Filter Definition record.
2. Create a Bridge Filter Applications record, which will determine how the filter
definitions will be applied.
3. Perform an on-line update of the definitions and applications (described under
"Configuring Bridge Filter Applications" on page 13-10). To review existing
filters, press
at the Filter Definitions and Applications Configuration Menu (or
[F]

To configure a filter, press
Menu. When prompted, enter:

The display will depend on the filter category. The following figure shows an example
of a MAC filter record.
