Monitoring a Line

The line monitor displays the control data and information data of traffic passing
through a port.
Running the line monitor on a frame relay port will degrade per-
formance on the port.
Press
at the Status Displays Menu and, when prompted, enter:

While remotely controlling a node, you cannot monitor the line to which
you are connected.
A message like the following will appear:

Options are F,H,L,M,S,D,Q,C,R,T,A,2,3,E and F3 to exit
Press F to start
The
Options
act as follows:
Allows specification of the length of frame relay data to display.
E
Stops the display from scrolling, or restarts if stopped.
F
Toggles the data format between ASCII and hexadecimal.
H
Monitors a specific LCN or DLCI. If packets are being exchanged, the
L
display will scroll them. To return to monitoring all LCNs/DLCIs, select
and enter
when prompted for an LCN/DLCI.

Monitors a different line; when prompted, enter the LP and port numbers.
M
Updates and redisplays the "
S
A
Enables/disables display of all/no packets.
Enables/disables display of Call Request/Clear packets.
C
Enables/disables display of Data packets on an X.25 port, or non-LMI DLCI

information on a frame relay port. On a frame relay port, the C/R, FECN,
BECN, and DE bits will be displayed separately, then the remainder of each
frame will be displayed as data.
Enables/disables display of QData packets.
Q
Enables/disables display of Restart/Reset packets on an X.25 port, or LMI
R
DLCI information on a frame relay port. (Only the sequence numbers will be
displayed for Link Integrity Verification messages on a frame relay port.)
Enables/disables timestamps and lengths of packets.
T
Enables display of all LAPB level 2 frames (if appropriate to the port).

Changes LAPB display (see 2 above) back to level 3.
