RLPs and Protocols

4-6
The Line Processor file contains this information for each RLP in an FRX6000:
RLP number and status (Installed, Configured)
Amount of memory installed (4MB or 8MB)
Type(s) of Line Interface Card(s)
Configured and loaded protocols
The terms "LP" and "RLP" are interchangeable.
To access the LP screens, press
To display a list of configured and installed RLPs, interface cards, and protocols, press
at the LP Configuration Menu. (If an RLP is displayed as

record exists for the RLP, but the card does not physically exist in the node.) When an
FRX6000 is booted, the software reads the configuration of all installed RLPs, Line
Interface Cards, and on-board memory. This information will then be read into the
display.
If a record is configured for an RLP, and the RLP is then installed with a
different configuration, the software will read the difference and change the
record.
Even though the hardware information is written to the LP file automatically on IPL,
there are some reasons why you might want to configure a record before the hardware
is installed. For example, when you create a Port record you must specify the RLP that
contains the port. If this RLP does not exist in the database, an error message will be
displayed. (You can still create the record, however.) Configuring an LP record first
will avoid this error.
