Using the Node as an IP Gateway

Required Configuration

An FRX or FRM can function as an IP gateway, and forward IP packets. This requires
that IP (not IP-R) be configured (and loaded) in the LP file (described in Chapter 4).
To run IP in an FRX/FRM, you must first configure the following in the database:
Node parameters, described in Chapter 3.
Line Processor(s) that will contain the interface(s) to the user device(s), plus
Line Interface Card(s) supporting the ports that will be the interfaces. See
Chapter 4.
Protocols: IP, RIP, frame relay or X.25, and any others that will be transmitted
over the frame relay or X.25 link. See Chapter 4.
LAN interface(s) that will connect to any attached LAN(s). See Chapter 4.
Frame relay or X.25 port(s) that will connect to the network. See Chapter 6
(frame relay) or Chapter 7 (X.25).
