5 - Removal and Re-installation

5.22.2 Remove and Re-install

To replace a character in a tine on the embosser wheel, follow these steps:
1) Prepare the device for replacing parts by following the steps in section 5.1 How to Prepare the
Device for Removing / Re-installing Modules. At the end, the device should be powered down with
all external cables safely disconnected and the hopper shuttle parked near the front of the device.
2) Insert an X-Acto knife between the tine and the character as shown in Figure 5-94.
3) Carefully pry the character toward the ceiling until you can remove it with your fingers.
4) Prepare the character for installation in the new time by making sure it is oriented correctly.
5) Support the tine, then press the character into place with your fingers.
6) Notify the ExpressCard's software that the character has moved. For detailed instructions, see section
2.9.4 How to Use the Character Mapping Page.
