10) Remove the head and set it aside.
11) Insert the replacement print head into the slot the way the previous head was inserted, push inward
gently against the spring, and guide the print head back into the locked position.
12) Connect the new print head cable to the socket the way the old print head was connected (see Figure
5-56), making sure it is facing the right way. This part is fragile: Do not use force to connect the
cable.
13) Press gently on each side of the connector to make sure it is firmly connected.
14) Close the image printer.
15) Re-connect the EC2000 AC power cable and power it on.
16) Use the touchscreen to navigate to
open the
Printer Utility
17) Select the
Command
Pkn;xxxx
where xxxx is the print head kit label number you recorded earlier, then press the
button. For example, if the print head label number is 179-004-00048, the command to enter would
be Pkn;179-004-00048. If the print head label number is not entered correctly, the image printer may
malfunction and the warranty may be voided.
18) The
Response
text box should report
19) Perform routine cleaning (see D99875600 EC2000 Installation and Operation Manual). This
step is required; the image printer will not process cards until cleaning is complete.
20) Re-install the ribbon (see D99875600 EC2000 Installation and Operation Manual for details).
21) Close the EC2000 top access door.
22) Test your changes by creating a sample card or an embosser tuning card.
