4. Measure the current while waving a magnet back and forth over the top of the VSS (less than 5 mm
{0.197 in}).
If there is any malfunction, replace the VSS. (See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS)
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AW6A-EL, AW6AX-EL].)

5. Install the VSS. (See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AW6A-
EL, AW6AX-EL].)
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Perform the mechanical system test. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST [AW6A-EL, AW6AX-
EL].)

CAUTION:
2008 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring
Water or foreign material entering the connector can cause a poor
connection or corrosion. Be sure not to drop water or foreign
material on the connector when disconnecting it.
