Honda Smart Card Key REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
When the card key has been lost, or additional spare card key is required:
1. Obtain a new Honda Smart Card Key.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Press all the Honda Smart Card Key system ON/OFF switch OFF.
Press the originally registered card key system ON/OFF switch ON.
If there are multiple card keys originally registered by the vehicle, press only one of the card Key sys-
tem ON/OFF switch ON. (The card key chosen here will be the originally registered card Key.)
Put the originally registered card Key within the operating range.
• Check that the ignition switch is OFF and locked.
• Be sure to re-register any registered card key except the originally registered card key.
• The operating range of the Honda Smart Card Key is about 80 cm (31.5 in) from the handle lock mod-
ule.
3. Apply 12 V battery voltage to the registration connector using a special tool (page 23-8).
4. Push the ignition switch within two minutes after completing step 3.
• The code of the original card key will be recognized by the handle lock module.
• When the Honda Smart Card Key is recognized and registered successfully, the ignition switch light
(Blue LED) starts to blink.
• If more than two minutes have passed, perform step 3 again.
• If the Honda Smart Card Key System detects any problem, the system will enter the diagnostic mode
and the indicator will remain on for approx. ten seconds, then it will indicate the diagnostic code
(page 23-8).
5. Disconnect the red clip of the inspection adaptor from the battery positive (+) terminal for more than
two seconds, then connect it again within two minutes.
• The ignition switch light (Blue LED) turns on.
• The Honda Smart Card Key System enters the registration mode. Registrations of all the card key
except the originally registered card key will be cancelled. (Registration of the lost card or spare card
is cancelled.)
6. Press the originally registered card key system ON/OFF switch OFF.
7. Press only one of the re-registered card key or new card key system ON/OFF switch ON and put it
within the operating range.
• If there is two or more registered card keys, re-register these card keys first, then register the new
card key.
• Do not use the originally registered card Key.
Turn the ignition switch ON within two minutes (Never use the card key registered in previous steps).
When the registration is completed successfully, the indicator comes on for two seconds then it
blinks four times repeatedly.
• The re-registered card key or new card key is registered by the handle lock module.
• When new card key is registered by the handle lock module, the Honda Smart Card Key System ON/
OFF indicator (Green) blinks five times. When a registered card key is re-registered, the Honda Smart
Card Key System ON/OFF indicator does not blink.
• If more than two minutes have passed, perform step 3 again.
• If the Honda Smart Card Key System detects any problem, the system will enter the diagnostic mode
and the indicator will remain on for approx. ten seconds, then it will indicate the diagnostic code
(page 23-8).
• If the registration is not successful, the indicator stays on for ten seconds, then it starts blinking as
shown below.
