• Before starting the inspection, check for loose or
poor contact on the O
sensor 1P (Black) connec-

tor and recheck the MIL blinking.

Sensor System Inspection

Start the engine and warm it up until the engine
oil temperature is 80°C (176°F).
Test-ride the scooter and recheck the MIL blink-
ing.
Does the MIL blink 21 times?
YES
– GO TO STEP 2.
NO
– Intermittent failure

Sensor Open Circuit Inspection
2
Connect the test harness to the PCM 33P connec-
tor (page 6-17).
Disconnect the O
sensor 1P (Black) connector.

Check the continuity between the test harness
and O
sensor 1P connector of the wire side.

CONNECTION: 18 – Black/orange
Is there continuity?
YES
– GO TO STEP 3.
NO
– Open circuit in Black/orange wire

Sensor Short Circuit Inspection

Check the continuity between the O
connector of the wire side and ground.
CONNECTION: Black/orange – Ground
Is there continuity?
YES
– Short circuit in Black/orange wire
NO
– GO TO STEP 4.
