FUEL SYSTEM (PGM-FI)
DTC 8-2 (TP SENSOR HIGH VOLTAGE)
1. TP Sensor System Inspection
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
switch " ".
Check the TP sensor with the HDS pocket tester.
Is about 5 V indicated?
YES
NO
2. TP Sensor Inspection
Check that the TP sensor voltage increases con-
tinuously when moving the throttle from fully
closed to fully opened using the data list menu
of the HDS pocket tester.
Does the voltage increase continuously?
YES
NO
3. TP Sensor Resistance Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the sensor unit 5P (Black) connector.
Check the resistance with the throttle position
while operating the throttle grip.
CONNECTION: White/red – Green/orange
STANDARD:
Is the resistance within 0 – 6 k Ω (Is the resis-
tance changed by operating the throttle grip)?
YES
NO
4. TP Sensor Ground Line Inspection
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
switch " ".
Disconnect the sensor unit 5P (Black) connector.
Measure the voltage at the wire side.
CONNECTION: White/red – Green/orange
STANDARD:
Is the voltage within 4.75 – 5.25 V?
YES
NO
DTC 9-1 (IAT SENSOR LOW VOLTAGE)
1. IAT Sensor System Inspection
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
switch " ".
Check the IAT sensor with the HDS pocket tester.
Is about 0 V indicated?
YES
NO

– GO TO STEP 3.
– GO TO STEP 2.
– Intermittent failure
– Replace the sensor unit (TP sensor) with
a new one, and recheck
0 – 6 kΩ
– GO TO STEP 4.
– Faulty sensor unit (TP sensor)
4.75 – 5.25 V
– Replace the PCM with a known good
one, and recheck.
– Open circuit in Green/orange wire
– GO TO STEP 2.
– Intermittent failure

SENSOR UNIT 5P CONNECTOR

Yellow/red
