DISASSEMBLY
Remove the pivot nut, pivot bolt and brake lever.
Remove the screws and brake light/inhibitor switch.
Remove the piston boot from the master cylinder
and master piston.
Remove the snap ring using a special tool.
TOOL:
Snap ring pliers
Remove the master piston, piston cup and spring.
Clean the inside of the cylinder and reservoir with
Be sure that each
clean brake fluid.

the dust or dirt
before reassembly.
INSPECTION
Check the master cylinder for abnormal scratches.
Measure the master cylinder I.D.
SERVICE LIMIT: 12.753 mm (0.5021 in)
Check the master piston for abnormal scratches.
Check the piston boot, piston cups for fatigue or
damage.
Measure the master cylinder piston O.D.
SERVICE LIMIT: 12.647 mm (0.4979 in)
