FUEL PRESSURE INCREASING
1. Connect the battery negative (–) cable.
2. Install the clamp and connect the fuel pump unit
5P (Natural) connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
switch " ". (The fuel pump unit will operate for
about 2 seconds, and fuel pressure will rise.)
Do not start the engine.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Repeat step 2, and 3, 2 or 3 times, and check that
there is no leakage in the fuel supply system.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Install the luggage lower box (page 3-16).
FUEL PRESSURE TEST
Disconnect the quick connect fitting from the injec-
tor side (page 6-71).
Attach the fuel pressure gauge, attachment and
manifold between the injector joint and quick con-
nector.
TOOLS:
Fuel pressure gauge
Pressure gauge manifold
Hose attachment, 9 mm/9 mm
Hose attachment, 6 mm/9 mm
Attachment joint, 6 mm/9 mm
Temporarily connect the fuel pump unit 5P (Natural)
connector and negative (–) cable to the battery.
Start the engine and let it idle.
Read the fuel pressure.
STANDARD:
284 – 304 kPa (2.9 – 3.1 kgf/cm
If the fuel pressure is higher than specified, replace
the fuel pump unit.
If the fuel pressure is lower than specified, inspect
the following:
– Fuel line leaking
– Clogged fuel filter (Faulty fuel pump unit)
– Fuel pump unit (page 6-76)
After inspection, relieve the fuel pressure (page 6-
71).
Remove the fuel pressure gauge, attachment and
manifold from the fuel pump unit.
Connect the quick connect fitting to the fuel pump
unit (page 6-73).
