e q u i v a l e n t t e s t e r l , a n d t u r n
the selector switch to position
'1 (starting).
2. Shift to neutral position, and
s t a r t t h e e n g i n e . H o l d t h e
engine at 3,000 rpm with no
l o a d u n t i l t h e r a d i a t o r t a n
comes on, thon let it idle.
3 . R a i s e t h e e n g i n e s p € e d t o
2,000 rpm, and hold it there.
ls the voltage over 15.1 V?
Altsrnator/Rogulator Test-z:
1. Release the accelerator pedal,
and let the engine idle.
2, Make sure all accessories are
turnod off. Turn the selector
switch to position 2 (charging).
3. Remove the inductive pick-up,
and zero the ammeter.
4 . P l a c e t h e i n d u c t i v e p i c k - u p
over the battery ground cable
s o t h a t t h e a r r o w p o i n t s
toward the batterY negative
terminal,
5 . R a i s e t h e e n g i n e s p e e d t o
2.000 rpm, and hold it there.
ls the voltage less than 13.5 V?
Ahelnstor/Regulator T$t-3i
A p p l y a l o a d w i t h t h e V A T - 4 0
until the battery voltage drops to
between 12 - 13.5 V.
