Screen Defines the data to be saved as a file containing an exact representation of the
analyzer display at the time it was saved. Screen files look exactly as the display looked
when the file was saved. You cannot extract data from Screen files as you can with Trace
files, but you can print them or include them in other documents. In addition, they cannot
be recalled into the analyzer. There are two formats for screen files, Bit-Mapped Graphic
and Reverse Bit-Mapped Graphic (Light Background). You can select the format you want

in Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format.

backgrounds are changed to white and the yellow traces are turned to green to preserve
printer black ink.

State Defines the data to be saved as a state file containing a copy of the state of the
analyzer at the time the file is saved. The settings of most analyzer functions are saved in
the state files but not traces and limits. When a State file is recalled into the analyzer, the
analyzer is restored to the same state as when the file was saved. Some settings are not
saved in the State files, for example the save state options; these settings are called
"persistent." In this guide, each function describes whether that function is saved in
"Instrument State" or is persistent.

Trace Defines the data to be saved as a trace file containing a copy of the trace data for one
or more traces. Trace files are saved in Trace + State format.
Trace + State format defines the data to be saved as a file containing the trace data and a
copy of the current analyzer state. The trace and state are stored in an internal data
format (TRC), which cannot be viewed on a PC, but can be recalled back into the analyzer.
Traces can be recalled individually or as a group.
When a Trace + State file is recalled into the analyzer the trace data that was on the
screen, when saved, is recalled into the analyzer. This enables you to view the trace as it
looked when it was saved. Because the state data is also saved, the analyzer settings,
