XML CUSTOMIZED SERVICES

Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language much like HTML. HTML was
designed to display data and to focus on how data looks. XML was designed to describe data
and to focus on what data is.
The following are characteristics of XML:
XML tags are not predefined. You must define your own tags.
XML uses a Document Type Definition (DTD) or an XML Schema to describe the data.
XML with a DTD or XML Schema is designed to be self-descriptive
XML is a W3C Standard Recommendation
CREATING CUSTOMIZED XML SERVICES ON THE IP PHONES
The XML application for the IP phones allows users to create custom services they can use
via the phone's keyboard and display. These services include things like weather and traffic
reports, contact information, company info, stock quotes, or custom call scripts.
The IP phone XML application supports the following proprietary objects that allow for the
customization of the IP phone's display.

DESCRIPTION
Creates a numerical list of menu items on the IP
phones.
Creates a screen of text that wraps appropriately.
Creates a formatted screen of text (specifies text
alignment, text size, text static or scrolling)
Creates screens for which the user can input text
where applicable.
Allows you to specify US (HH:MM:SS am/pm and
MM/DD/YYYY) or International (HH:MM:SS and
DD/MM/YYYY) time/date formats for an XML user
input screen.
Creates an online Directory List that a user can
browse in real-time.
Creates a screen that displays status messages
when applicable.
Allows the phone to execute commands (i.e. "reset",
"NoOp", etc.) using XML.
Allows the server to push a configuration to the
phone.(See

for more information).
Creates a display with a single bitmap image
according to alignment, height, and width
specifications.
