Converting a database from release 15.57 or 16 to release 21
To use this procedure, your option 21 must currently be running version 15.57
or higher. If your system is running an earlier version of release 15 software
(release 15.53, for example), you must first convert the database to
release 15.57. Refer to Software conversion procedures (553-2001-320) for
instructions on converting the database to a higher version of the same
release. Only those systems running release 15.57 or 16 can use this
procedure.
1 Remove the front covers from the option 21.
2 Log into the system.
3 Load the Equipment Data Dump Program (LD 43). At the prompt, enter
LD 43
Always enter LD 43 from the source (current) media. Do not exit LD 43.
When "EDD000" appears on the terminal, proceed to the next step.
Note: In the next steps you will remove the floppy disk drives and
QPC742 FDI card that are currently installed in the option 21. You will
install in their place the following:
• an NT9D33 Small System Multi Drive Unit (SMDU)
• an NT9D34 Enhanced Mass Storage Interface (EMSI) card
4 Set the ENB/DIS switch to DIS on the QPC742 Floppy Disk Interface
(FDI) card.
5 Disconnect the cable between the FDU and the QPC742 FDI card.
6 Remove the FDU and the QPC742 FDI card.
7 Set the ENB/DIS switch on the NT9D34 EMSI card to DIS.
8 On the EMSI card, set positions 1, 5, and 7 on switch SW3 to ON. Set
position 8 to OFF.
9 Install the QMM42 data cartridge for release 18 software onto the EMSI
card.
Note: QMM42 data cartridges are shipped with the disks for each
software release.
