14 For systems using MSI cards, connect one end of an NT8D80AC cable
to the connector on the MSI card in CPU 0. Connect the other end to
faceplate connector 0 on the NTND16 MDU. For systems using EMSI
cards, connect one end of an NT9D89AB cable to the connector on the
EMSI card in CPU 0. Connect the other end to faceplate connector 0 on
the NTND16 MDU.
15 For systems using MSI cards, connect one end of an NT8D80AD cable
to the connector on the MSI card in CPU 1. Connect the other end to
faceplate connector 1 on the NTND16 MDU. For systems using EMSI
cards, connect one end of an NT9D89AD cable to the connector on the
EMSI card in CPU 1. Connect the other end to faceplate connector 1 on
the NTND16 MDU.
16 In CPU 1, set the ENB/DIS switch on each MSI or EMSI card to ENB.
17 Insert the disk for conversion from release 8 to release 9 into DRV A.
18 Load the Conversion Program (LD 66):

When "CDD000" appears on the terminal, proceed to the next step.
19 Disable and remove the MSI or EMSI card from CPU 1, and replace the
current QMM42 cartridge with the QMM42 cartridge for the next
required release. Reinstall and enable the card. Refer to Table 6-2,
"Database conversion requirements, NT system upgrade to
X11 release 21," on page 6-5 to determine the cartridge required for the
next conversion step; for example, the X11 release 9 cartridge is required
for the conversion from release 8 to release 9.
Note: QMM42 data cartridges are shipped with the disks for each
software release.
20 Remove the disk from the NTND16 MDU drives and insert ED floppy
disks with the next required release software into the drives. Insert
disk A in DRV A and disk B in DRV B. Refer to Table 6-2, "Database
conversion requirements, NT system upgrade to X11 release 21," on
page 6-5 to determine the software release required for the next
conversion step; for example, X11 release 9 software is required for the
conversion from release 8 to release 9.
