Turning on the power and configuring the system

Before you power up the system, review installation steps and verify that all
cards are in the appropriate card slots and properly cabled.
Note: Make sure a terminal is connected to J25 on the I/O panel. Verify
that the terminal is set for 9600 baud, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, space parity,
full duplex, XON protocol.

Perform the appropriate step to restore power in the Core/Network
module:
For AC-powered systems, simultaneously set the circuit breaker on
the MPDU in both Core/Network modules to ON (up position).
For DC-powered systems, simultaneously set the switch on the
module power supply in both Core/Network modules to ON (up
position).

Follow the steps below to install the customer database (converted by
Northern Telecom).
Note: Refer to "Software Installation Tool reference," Software
conversion procedures (553-2001-320).
To activate the Software Installation Tool, insert disk 1 from the
software upgrade package into the NT5D20 IOP/CMDU.
Press the MAN RST button on the NT9D19 CP card.
Select the following options in sequence, and insert the disk with the
customer database when you are prompted to do so:

Follow all screen directions until the database transfer is complete.
Select the following options to quit and reload the system:

to install the database
to install customer database
to continue with the database installation
to begin the installation
to quit
to confirm quit
to reboot the system
