• Remove the QPC84 Power Monitor and set switches to disable
power monitoring in the CE shelf. A QPC84 Power Monitor vintage
S or later is required. Refer to Circuit card installation and testing
(553-3001-211) for switch setting information.
• Install the QPC84S Power Monitor.
Preparing the MS system for upgrade
1 Set the CAB INP circuit breaker on the QSP43 power control shelf in the
QCA109 cabinet and all other shelf circuit breakers to OFF.
2 Set the AC input circuit breaker on the –48V rectifier in the QCA109
cabinet to OFF.
3 Tag and disconnect cables from connectors on the faceplate of the
following cards located on the CE shelf:
• QPC425 CPU/SDI card
• QPC376 network cards
• QPC139 SDI cards, if equipped
4 Remove cards from the CE shelf and store them in a safe place.
5 Tag and disconnect the tape unit alarm connector. To do this, you must
first remove the tape unit and then disconnect the alarm connector.
6 The CE shelf will not be used after the upgrade is completed. You may
remove it now if you wish:
• Tag and disconnect all alarm connectors from the harness to the CE
shelf.
• Unplug all power converter cards and all CE cards from the CE
shelf.
• Tag and disconnect power connections and power monitor
connector C12 from the cabinet power distribution harness to the
right end of the backplane on the QSP39 shelf.
Note: If the cabinet is equipped with an expansion CE shelf (a second
CE shelf), disconnect and remove the wiring between the +5V, +12V,
–12V, and LGND connections on the CE shelf.
