Meridian 1 option 71 upgrade

This chapter describes the circuit card upgrade of a Meridian 1 option 71 to a

Meridian 1 option 71 X11 release 21 system.

To upgrade an option 71 to an option 71 X11 release 21 system, you must

upgrade both the hardware and the software.

Note: X11 release 21 is the highest supported X11 software release for

option 71 systems. The option 71 must be upgraded to an Option 81C

before converting to X11 release 22 software.

Upgrading the hardware consists of the following:

— replacing the memory card and the floppy disk unit and interface card

— replacing some of the common equipment with new common equipment

required by the new software release

Upgrading the software consists of the following:

— transferring the customer database to extra-high-density disks

— for those customers who so choose, sending the customer database disks

to Northern Telecom for conversion

— for those customers who choose to convert the database on-site,

converting the customer database to X11 release 21 compatibility
