Converting a database from release 17 to release 21
1 Remove the front covers from the 21A system.
2 Log into the system.
3 Load the Equipment Data Dump Program (LD 43). At the prompt, enter
LD 43
Always enter LD 43 from the source (current) media. When "EDD000"
appears on the terminal, proceed to the next step.
Note: In the next steps you will remove the floppy disk drives and
QPC742 FDI card that are currently installed in the 21A system. You will
install in their place the following:
• an NT9D33 Small System Multi Drive Unit (SMDU)
• an NT9D34 Enhanced Mass Storage Interface (EMSI) card
4 Set the ENB/DIS switch to DIS on the QPC742 FDI card.
5 Disconnect the cable between the FDU and the QPC742 FDI card.
6 Remove the FDU and the QPC742 FDI card.
7 Set the ENB/DIS switch on the NT9D34 EMSI card to DIS.
8 On the EMSI card, set positions 1, 5, and 7 on switch SW3 to ON. Set
position 8 to OFF.
9 Install the QMM42 data cartridge for release 19 software onto the EMSI
card.
Note: QMM42 data cartridges are shipped with the disks for each
software release.
10 Insert the NT9D33 SMDU into its assigned position.
11 Connect the NT9D47 cable between connector J2 on the NT9D33
SMDU and connector J2 on the NT9D34 EMSI card.
12 Connect the NT9D66 cable between connector J1 on the NT9D33
SMDU and connector J1 on the faceplate of the NT9D34 EMSI card.
13 Install the NT9D34 EMSI card into the 21A system in the same slot from
which you removed the older FDI card.
14 Set the ENB/DIS switch on the EMSI card to ENB.
