Preparing a system for off-site database conversion
This section contains procedures for those systems that have had the customer
database converted by Northern Telecom. After you receive your disks
containing the converted database from Northern Telecom, perform these
steps.
1
Remove the front covers from the ST system.
2
Shut down power to the system by switching the circuit breaker for the
power supply to OFF.
Note: In the next steps you will remove the floppy disk drives and
QPC742 FDI card that are currently installed in the ST system. You will
install in their place the following:
an NT9D33 Small System Multi Drive Unit (SMDU)
an NT9D34 Enhanced Mass Storage Interface (EMSI) card
3
Set the ENB/DIS switch to DIS on the QPC742 Floppy Disk Interface
(FDI) card.
4
Disconnect the cable between the FDU and the QPC742 FDI card.
5
Remove the FDU and the QPC742 FDI card.
6
On the NT9D34 EMSI card, set positions 1, 5, 7, and 8 on switch SW3
to ON.
7
Install the QMM42 data cartridge for release 21 software onto the EMSI
card.
Note: QMM42 data cartridges are shipped with the disks for each
software release.
8
Insert the NT9D34 SMDU into its assigned position.
9
Connect the NT9D47 cable between connector 0 on the NT9D33 SMDU
and the faceplate connector on the NT9D34 EMSI card.
10 Connect the NT9D66 cable between the power connector on the
NT9D33 SMDU and the power connector on the faceplate of the
NT9D34 EMSI card.
11 Install the NT9D34 EMSI card into the ST system in the same slot from
which you removed the FDI card.
