8.1 Engine Troubleshooting

Refer to the table provided below if you encounter engine problems while operating the windrower.
Problem
Symptom: Engine won't crank.
Controls not in NEUTRAL
Controls not in NEUTRAL
Controls not in NEUTRAL
Symptom: Engine hard to start or will not start.
NEUTRAL interlock misadjusted
No fuel to engine
Old fuel in tank
Water, dirt, or air in fuel system
Improper type of fuel
Crankcase oil too heavy
Low battery output
Poor battery connection
Faulty starter
Loose electrical connection at
fuel pump
Wiring shorted, circuit breaker open
ECM fuse (1 of 2) blown
ECM Ignition relay faulty
Faulty injectors
Symptom: Engine knocks.
Engine out of time
Insufficient oil
Low or high coolant temperature
Improper fuel

Solution
Move ground speed lever (GSL) to
NEUTRAL.
Move steering wheel to locked
(centered) position.
Disengage HEADER ENGAGE switch.
Contact Dealer.
Fill empty fuel tank. Replace clogged
filter.
Drain tank. Refill with fresh fuel.
Drain, flush, fill, and prime system.
Use proper fuel for operating
conditions.
Use recommended oil.
Have battery tested. Check battery
electrolyte level.
Clean and tighten loose connections.
Contact Dealer.
Ensure connector at pump is fully
pushed in.
Check continuity of wiring and breaker
(manual reset).
Replace.
Replace.
Contact Dealer.

Add oil.

Use proper fuel.
