8.5 Traction Drive Troubleshooting

Refer to the table provided below if you encounter traction drive problems while operating the windrower.
Problem
Symptom: The warning alarm sounds and the low charge pressure warning appears on the HarvestTouch
Low hydraulic oil level
Low hydraulic pressure
Faulty sender
Symptom: Wheels lack necessary ability to pull on a grade or when pulling out of a ditch.
Internal pump or motor damage
Insufficient torque at drive wheels
Loose or worn controls
Brakes binding or not releasing fully
Relief valve in tandem pump dirty or
damaged
Symptom: With the steering wheel centered, one wheel pulls more than the other wheel.
Leakage at pump or motor
Binding or interference with controls
under cab
Faulty relief valve
Symptom: Both wheels will not pull in forward or in reverse.
Loose hardware on pump controls
Brakes binding or not releasing fully
Low oil level and low charge pressure
Wheel drives disengaged
Servo input loose
Failed pump
Symptom: One wheel will not pull in forward or in reverse.
Broken pump arm or shaft
Steering controls worn or defective
High pressure relief valve stuck open,
damaged seat
Brakes binding or not releasing fully
Failed pump, motor or final drive
Symptom: Excessive noise from the drive system.
Mechanical interference in steering or
ground speed linkage
Brakes binding or not releasing fully
Faulty pump or motor
Air in system
Hydraulic line clamps loose

TROUBLESHOOTING
Solution
Shut down engine, and add oil to
hydraulic system.

ground speed lever (GSL) setting.
Check controls.
Check charge pressure.
Replace relief valve.
